It is tempting to think of sprint retrospectives as a part of the reporting process. A chance to let people outside of your Scrum Team know what you are discussing and how you are improving.
There are dangers with this approach:
- If people think that what is said in the retrospective is to be shared outside of the team then they may be more cautious with what they say
- People not in the Scrum Team may not have the necessary context to understand what is being said in a retrospective
As a Scrum Master I recommend that only Scrum Team members attend a sprint retrospective and that nothing is shared with a wider audience unless specifically requested by the team.
